Pre-Interview Summary
The question for my research is, why do college students tend to lose motivation towards their fitness goals? In order to receive valuable information that would be useful for my writing there a few things that are essential. One being that the individual I interview is or has been a college student. Also, that the student either continued their fitness journey throughout college or when they were in college lost motivation towards fitness. For my interview, I will be interviewing an individual that was a former college student who got into fitness during her college years. Not only was she able to get into fitness throughout college, but she remained driven and graduated college, while having more than one job, and striving towards becoming in better shape. One question I will be asking is, “what was the biggest motivating factor in pushing you to get into better shape?”. This question is sort of opposite to the question that I’m initially asking for the whole paper. However, I believe this will provide me information that could be a motivating factor that keeps college students motivated. I could also use it to see if other individuals are motivated by the same factors. A second question I would ask is, “what was the toughest part of remaining motivated?”. The answer to this question may give me some insight on why a many people struggle with staying motivated throughout college. A similar question I will be asking is, “what was the most difficult part about balancing, school, work, and fitness?”. The answer provided from this question will provide me with more than one piece of information. One piece being another reason individuals have a tough time remaining motivated, but also with information with how individuals can balance their time and squeeze in time for fitness. Another valuable question to ask would be, “how valuable do you think it is to set goals within fitness, school, and other aspects of life?” I believe this question is important because for me, personally, I think setting short and long term goals is one of the best ways to stay on track. Setting these goals give me direction and when a goal is reached it motivates me even more and gives me confidence. However, I do not want to limit my writing to my own experience, but see it from the viewpoint of another person. With the viewpoint of another person it can either enhance how I feel about goals or even offer a different angle on how to perceive setting goals. A final question that I would ask is, “what advice would you give a college student who wants to get into fitness, but is worried if they can remain dedicated?”. The answer to this question would provide me with information that may be beneficial to a college student with these interest that is reading my paper. Although this is not my final interview summary for project 2 this is how I plan to approach the interview. I have also provided the purpose for each question asked.
